CISPES, the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador celebrated our 35th Anniversary in 2010. This is an archive of the webpage we created for that occasion.
We are a national grassroots solidarity organization that since 1980 has organized to stop US intervention in El Salvador and to support the work of the vibrant Salvadoran resistance movement and the FMLN, the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front, against the powers of US imperialism and elite domination.
The people of El Salvador know the importance of keeping historical memory alive, passing the history of struggle down throughout the generations. To commemorate three decades of cross-border struggle, we have created this anniversary blog and we want you to share YOUR story about CISPES and the solidarity movement.
Were you involved in one of hundreds of civil disobedience actions to stop military funding for Salvadoran death squads? Did you participate in a delegation or travel to Central America to witness the truth about the resistance yourself? Was CISPES formative to your own political development?
